**Why it Matters**

## Some things, once lost, cannot be recovered.

### Memory is fragile

The stories we think we'll always remember grow quieter with time. Details fade. Voices become harder to recall. What feels permanent today may be gone tomorrow.

### Presence cannot be replaced

Photos show what someone looked like. Written stories tell what happened. But video preserves how they were—the way they spoke, the pauses they took, the warmth in their voice when they said your name. That kind of presence can't be recreated once it's gone.
